Future Expansion

The Butler County Jail is a significant building in the town of El Dorado, Kansas. This otherwise simple structure has a delicate glass cube at the entry as a beacon for visitors. Designed to allow for future expansion, this 204-bed county jail has touch screen technology for security control and video arraignment capabilities. Circulation is simplified to one main spine offering unobstructed views from central control to the housing pod, work release, inmate visitation and the entrance from the administrative area. Housing pod layouts incorporate views from central control into higher capacities and larger day rooms so that housing control can observe more inmates with fewer staff.
