Supervision Pod Concept

The design for this 196-bed, 100,000 square foot facility was based on a direct supervision pod concept, developed to allow the largest number of inmates to be directly supervised with the fewest staff possible. To this end, a visitation system was developed to allow visitors to access the non-contact visitation areas of the pods without need for an officer escort. Medical observation cells and a courtroom were utilized to limit expensive inmate transportation costs and provide the most secure environment for inmate services Educational and group spaces are situated on the secure corridor to allow inmates to access these services unescorted. Work release inmates are housed in a ground-level pod that eliminates the need for those inmates to enter the secure facility, thus reducing the possibilities of contraband in the secure facility.
