Provides water to more than 400,000 individualsWaterOne is a quasi-municipal agency that provides water to more than 400,000 individuals. WaterOne serves residential and commercial accounts in 16 cities in the Johnson County area with a customer base of approximately 135,000 homes and businesses. WaterOne has retained the services of Treanor Architects in association with Olsson Associates to determine the best means to increase the current physical space for incorporation of the newest proven technologies for water analysis at the existing Hansen Water Treatment laboratory facilities. The program for the project reflects a study of the current facility, testing processes and space needs as well as space needs for anticipated growth and future technologies. Included in the scope of services was determination of the most beneficial approach for new space, including either expansion of the current laboratory facility or creation of a new freestanding building. After careful study, the consensus was to construct a freestanding building. The proposed new building will include space for water sample receiving and collection, wet chemistry laboratory, inorganics analysis instrumentation, microbiology laboratory, metals laboratory, organics instrumentation as well as office and support spaces. The facility will reflect the materials and design of the existing including precast concrete and brick with large areas of glass. Anticipated commencement of construction in November 2008 with completion in November 2009. |
