Hashinger Hall

Residential FacilityHashinger Hall is an eight-story residential facility built in 1962 at the University of Kansas. The project will include a complete renovation of the building’s 121,190 square feet. Hashinger Hall has provided residential space for students studying Fine Arts and is known as the Residential Center for the Creative Arts. The renovation program includes a space which serves the dual function of general purpose lounge and theatre space for a variety of productions by and for residents. The program provides housing for 385 students in two person bedrooms with amenities that are competitive with those in the private housing market. The building will also be outfitted with a new mechanical, electrical and plumbing system, be made accessible and be brought into compliance with current codes. Also included in the renovation is approximately 15,000 gsf for food service space and related storage, a computer lab and a laundry facility. The food service space will be for extended hours, drop-in, “grab and go” service to be delivered through contracts with in-house or outside food vendors. This area will also include indoor and outdoor spaces for sitting, eating, studying and relaxing. |
