Special Interest Housing
Washington & Jefferson College
Comprehensive PlanningTreanor Architects, P.A., along with Capstone Development were retained to provide a Residential Life Master Plan for Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. The master plan is a comprehensive planning document providing an analysis of the critical issues of the housing system at Washington and Jefferson College, and outlines specific recommendations to fulfill the vision and goals of the W&J College community for the next 20 years. The master plan includes a residential housing financial analysis; existing housing bed matrix, residential housing “ideal-model” programs, conceptual plans for future buildings and phasing recommendations. With the completion of the Master Plan, Washington and Jefferson College has identified the need for 740 new beds. The two-phase building program includes theme housing for specialty groups and Greek organizations and new apartment-style living for upper classmen. The somewhat land-locked University has joined with the town of Washington to take advantage of land between the University and the downtown to construct new apartments. The development will provide University-managed, independent housing with some street-level retail opportunities. |
