Pinckney Elementary
Lawrence, Kansas
Elementary SchoolOver the last 10 years, Treanor Architects has provided design services for Phase I and II of Pinckney Elementary School. Phase I encompassed the installation of new mechanical and lighting systems throughout the two-story, concrete framed, brick-and-block, 1950's era building. The project also included the renovation of two of the existing classrooms into a new library. Our portion of the project included the design and coordination of the new library as well as the sensitive coordination and the sensitive location of the MEP services with the existing fabric of the building. Phase II of the project included a two-story brick and stone addition including two new classrooms, reception area, administration offices, clinic, storage, janitorial space, accessible restrooms on both floors, a new elevator, and roof replacement on the existing school and gymnasium. A covered drop off area for parents along the east side of the building was included to provide coverage for students as well as visually tying the school, addition, and gymnasium together. |
