The Living / Learning Center at Washburn University is an example of Treanor’s Student Life Team helping to design a center where students and educators reside in the same facility, maximizing learning opportunities.

Greek Housing

How does your campus Greek housing compare with the new Sigma Alpha Epsilon facility on the University of Kansas? The 24,000-square foot facility includes a library, group study rooms, computer room, sleeping dorms, kitchen, dining room, housemother’s apartment, living room and leadership chapter room. As you work to build students’ loyalty and service through your on-campus Greek organizations, we work with you to meet those needs.

Residence Halls

Are your buildings part of a historic preservation district? How can you preserve the past, yet allow for the advanced needs of today’s modern student? Benedictine College was faced with just this dilemma when they asked us to assist with the renovation of Historic Ferrell Hall, changing it into a modern, fully functional residence hall. Built in 1893, Ferrell Hall first served as a monastery for Benedictine monks, later as a residence hall for college freshmen, then sat empty for 30 years. Now, Historic Ferrell Hall is fully restored as a residence hall for upperclassmen, reviving life at the gateway of the campus, providing apartment- and suite-style living, and enabling the school to better fulfill its mission as a residential college. Ferrell Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Undeniably, buildings contribute to the total learning environment of a school’s student life whether they are residential halls, Greek Housing, Student Learning Center or dining facilities. Only a building that supports the goals and visions of the university, is affordable and efficient to maintain and operate, and represents a long-term value for a campus will be deemed a success.
