Kansas City Fire Stations No. 43 & No. 45
Kansas City, MissouriRenovation & Remodel
Each of the two fire stations had received minimal change since their construction more than 30 years prior to the project. The Kansas City Fire Department placed a great importance on improving the living and working conditions of their fire fighters.
The first priority was to ensure the soundness and efficiency of building exterior envelopes. Work here included complete window and door replacements, new roofs and both structural and cosmetic repair to building facades. New additions to each of the day rooms added living space and improved the entrances to each station.
Work on the building interiors amounted to a complete remodeling. Existing bunk rooms and locker rooms were reconfigured and renovated to bring them up to modern standards. In addition, kitchens, day rooms and apparatus bays received all new finishes, furnishings and equipment as well as HVAC and electrical system replacement throughout.
