Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center Phase I
Hutchinson, Kansas
Residential Facility and Training CenterTreanor Architects was commissioned by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center to design a new residential facility and additional training space at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Hutchinson. The KLETC, a unit of KU's Division of Continuing Education, has been located at a former naval air station since 1968. The 16-acre, multi-million-dollar complex serves as the central training facility for most Kansas law enforcement officers and as headquarters for all law enforcement training in the state. Some 400 new officers annually participate in its basic training programs, and nearly 7,000 additional Kansas law enforcement personnel receive in-service training on site or in KLETC-coordinated programs across the state. Phase I of the $10 million project includes a new entrance lobby, a 126-bed residence hall , and a multipurpose facility, which will house classrooms and provide a meeting space for up to 800 people. Completion of Phase 1 is scheduled for 2009. |
